Siyu Huang

TECH POWER PLAYERS 50 | RANKED #24

Cofounder and CEO, Factorial Energy

BIOGRAPHY

Why a Tech Power Player? For delivering breakthroughs in solid-state battery technology and supporting the EV industry.

Siyu Huang is committed to manufacturing a new kind of battery that packs a bigger punch. Today’s standard lithium batteries use a liquid electrolyte — the substance that allows batteries to generate electricity. But at her company, Woburn-based Factorial Energy, Huang is working to develop the elusive “solid-state” battery, which uses a plastic-like electrolyte to make a safer, longer-range battery. The technology would be a boon to the electric vehicle industry, which is why Factorial has secured partnerships with carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Hyundai. Before starting Factorial, Huang founded Lionano, a material manufacturing company also focused on batteries. Huang holds a doctorate in chemistry from Cornell University and a master of business administration from Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management.
