TECH POWER PLAYERS 50 | RANKED #38

Cofounder and CEO, invisaWear

BIOGRAPHY

Why a Tech Power Player? For developing technology designed to empower users and for a proven commitment to equity.

After being accosted by a group of men while she was in college, Rajia Abdelaziz knew she wanted to develop a technology to make her feel more in control. So, in 2016, she cofounded invisaWear, a Lowell-based company that designs jewelry that doubles as safety devices. The company’s selection of stylish necklaces, bracelets, keychains, and more contain a button that users can press to text their location to pre-selected emergency contacts, or to call 911. In 2019, the technology helped save a woman’s life after she used the keychain to call for help after crashing on the Lowell Connector. In 2020, invisaWear teamed up with ADT to integrate additional safety features from the security giant into the jewelry. Abdelaziz earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
