Laura Major is committed to making driverless vehicles a reality. She is the chief technology officer at Motional, the Boston-based joint venture of carmaker Hyundai and technology company Aptiv, which is developing autonomous cars for ride-hailing and delivery settings. Major leads engineering efforts at the company, which is partnering with both Uber and Lyft to put all-electric “robotaxis” on the road. Previously, Major was chief technology officer of the drone company Aria Insights, and before that, she worked for more than a decade in various roles at the Cambridge-based Draper Laboratory. Major holds a bachelor of science in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master of science in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT.
