Jeremy Allaire is rare among cryptocurrency entrepreneurs: He supports more and smarter restrictions in the sector. He is the CEO, cofounder, and chairman of Circle Internet Financial, a financial technology firm that specializes in digital currency. Circle launched and manages USD Coin, a “stablecoin” with its value pegged to the US dollar, to bridge the gap between the traditional financial system and cryptocurrency. Under Allaire, Circle has prospered despite uncertainty in the broader crypto market; the third quarter of 2022 was Circle’s best to date, with $43 million in profit. Allaire has spoken on digital currencies before the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee. He holds a bachelor of arts in political science and philosophy from Macalester College.
