Why a Tech Power Player? For leadership in the field of venture capital and the “everyday economy.”

As one of the cofounders and partners of the venture capital firm NextView Ventures, David Beisel looks for one thing in early-stage technology companies: Are they rethinking the economy of everyday life? During his decade-plus at NextView, Beisel has discovered many companies that fit that description, including the book recommendation service BookBub, the online consignment store thredUP, and activity recommendation service The Nudge. Before NextView, Beisel cofounded Sombasa Media, an e-mail marketing company that was later acquired by About.com. Beisel also founded the Boston Innovators Group, a networking organization for the local startup and entrepreneurship communities.
