TECH POWER PLAYERS 50 | RANKED #1

Chief Operating Officer, President, and Cofounder, Toast

BIOGRAPHY

Why a Tech Power Player? For leading one of the region’s largest public companies and demonstrating a commitment to the hospitality industry amid unprecedented challenges in the sector.

Aman Narang is chief operating officer, president, and cofounder of Toast. He leads sales, marketing, customer success, business development, and financial tech initiatives at the company, which aims to make food service operations — from customer payments to takeout orders to payroll management — more efficient through all-in-one, cloud-based software. In 2022, Narang led the company into new markets by pursuing more business with hotel restaurants, and in 2023, by teaming with Google to allow people to place restaurant orders directly through the search engine. Narang, Steve Fredette, and Jonathan Grimm founded Toast after working at the Cambridge software company Endeca (later acquired by Oracle), where they helped build the firm’s mobile commerce business. Aman earned bachelor and master of science degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
